What Are Dentures?

A denture is a custom-made, removable appliance designed to replace one or more missing teeth. Made from lifelike resin teeth set into an acrylic or chrome base, modern dentures are built to blend in naturally with your remaining teeth and gums, while restoring the ability to chew comfortably and speak clearly. They also help support the muscles of your face, which can otherwise sag or change shape once teeth are missing.

Types of Dentures

Complete (full) dentures

Used when all the natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw are missing, a complete denture replaces the entire arch. It rests directly on the gums, held in place by natural suction and, if needed, a small amount of denture adhesive.

Partial dentures

Where some natural teeth remain, a partial denture fills the gaps left by missing teeth. It's usually held in place with discreet metal or acrylic clasps that attach to the surrounding natural teeth, helping keep everything stable while you eat and speak
